Job Description: Position Purpose: The Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) at LUMS invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant to support an ongoing research project on the Pakistani healthcare system. Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will be responsible for primary and secondary data collection, data management and analysis, and the preparation of research outputs. The role will contribute to generating evidence-based insights on healthcare delivery, management, and policy in Pakistan. Main Responsibilities: • Conduct primary data collection through surveys, structured and semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions with healthcare stakeholders, including hospital administrators, healthcare professionals, patients, and policymakers. • Collect, compile, and organise secondary data from published reports, government and institutional databases and academic literature. • Assist in the design and pilot testing of research instruments such as questionnaires, interview guides, and consent forms. • Coordinate fieldwork, including scheduling, outreach to hospitals and healthcare organisations, and obtaining the necessary access and permissions. • Clean, code, and manage datasets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality in line with research ethics requirements. • Perform quantitative analysis using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS, or Python) and qualitative analysis, including transcription, coding, and thematic analysis. • Conduct literature reviews and prepare summaries and annotated bibliographies on healthcare management, economics, and policy. • Assist in drafting research reports, policy briefs, case studies, presentations, and academic manuscripts. • Maintain proper documentation of research processes, field notes, and data files. • Perform any other research-related tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator. Travel/Work Schedule: Full-time, on-campus position. Business hours may extend into the evenings and weekends, depending on workload. Flexibility & commitment are necessary. Swift responsiveness is a requirement within and outside office timings. The role involves field visits to hospitals and healthcare facilities for data collection, primarily within Lahore and, if required, other cities. Qualification: • Master’s degree (MS/MPhil/MBA; 16–18 years of education) in Management, Economics, Public Health, Public Policy, or a related Social Science discipline from an HEC-recognised institution. • At least one year of research experience (including thesis or academic research) involving data collection and analysis.
