Job Description: • Prescription review : Review incoming prescriptions from the eye clinic before fabrication begins, checking all parameters including sphere, cylinder, axis, add power, prism, and PD, and flagging any unclear or incomplete values for clarification. • Complex job consultation: Support the Optical Technician on technically demanding prescriptions involving high power, strong cylinder, prism, or progressive designs, advising on back vertex power (BVP), decentration, base curve selection, and minimum blank size. • Frame and prescription compatibility: Assess whether a client's chosen frame is suitable for their prescription, particularly for high-minus, high-plus, or significant astigmatic corrections, and advise on frame shape, lens index, and design to achieve the best optical and cosmetic outcome. • Quality verification: Check all finished eyewear on the lensometer against the original prescription, confirming power, axis, prism, and optical centration are within acceptable tolerance before the order is passed for client collection. • Remake troubleshooting : Identify the root cause of fabrication errors or quality failures, whether related to centration, blank selection, or axis deviation, and support the Optical Technician in correcting them. • Prescription explanation to custome rs: Assist the Sales Manager by explaining prescription values to customers in plain language, helping them understand their vision correction needs and feel confident before making a purchase decision. • Lens and material guidance : Advise customers on lens type (single vision, bifocal, progressive), refractive index, and design based on their prescription, lifestyle, occupation, and visual demands. • Coating recommendations : Guide customers on suitable lens coatings including anti-reflection (AR), photochromic, blue light filtering, and UV protection, matching recommendations to their daily usage and budget. • Progressive lens counselling : Set clear expectations for first-time progressive wearers on adaptation, corridor design, and frame selection to support a smooth transition and minimize returns. • Non-adaptation resolution : Assess and resolve customer complaints relating to new eyewear by reviewing the prescription, optical centration, frame fit, and lens design alongside the relevant team member to determine the cause and reach a solution. Eligibility Criteria: • Qualification : Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Bachelor of Science in Optometry (BS Optometry) from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Candidates holding a 4-year professional degree in Optometry registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) or the relevant provincial health authority are preferred. A postgraduate diploma or MS in Optometry or Ophthalmic Sciences from an HEC-recognized institution will be an added advantage. • Experience : Minimum 2 to 4 years of clinical or optical dispensing experience, with demonstrated competence in prescription review, lensometer verification, complex job consultation, and progressive lens counselling. Experience working in an optical retail, hospital eye unit, or ophthalmic clinic setting in Pakistan is required. Candidates with a proven track record of handling high-power and prism prescriptions, resolving non-adaptation complaints, and advising customers on lens design and coatings will be strongly preferred.
