Manager Water stewardship and Ecosystem Restoration Reporting to : Sr. Manager Freshwater Programme Grade/Title : D1 (Manager Water Stewardship and Ecosystem Restoration) Duty Station : WWF-Pakistan, Multan, Pakistan Employment Contract : One Year / Renewable Work Week : 5 Days (Monday to Friday)- 40 hrs/week Work Hours : 0830 hrs to 1715 hrs Working Relationships External: Private and Public Sector Stakeholders, Projects’ Partners, Donors and Farmer Communities in South Punjab Internal: Freshwater Team, Programme Development Department, Communications Department and other Project Heads and practice focal points of WWF-Pakistan Context The Freshwater Programme aims to safeguard Pakistan’s rivers, wetlands, aquifers and associated ecosystems by promoting integrated water resources management (IWRM), Water stewardship and replenishment, climate-resilient water governance, water sensitive urban design (WSUD) and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for people and ecosystems. Through partnerships with government, academia, and communities, the programme seeks to ensure sustainable water security, restore degraded freshwater habitats, and strengthen the enabling policy environment for equitable and climate-smart water management. The Manager Water stewardship and Ecosystem Restoration will contribute to WWF-Pakistan’s Freshwater Programme by supporting and leading the projects in carrying out project activities in the stewardship and replenishment work in South Punjab. These includes but not limited to procurements for field materials, ensure that supply of material is met with scheduled activities, designing of interventions, engagement with Govt. private sector stakeholders for the execution of the project activities, ensure that all the contracts associated with procurements, logistics and commitments with stakeholders is documented in a presentable form to the donor agency and for internal verification of project management team. The Manager will also be overseeing different activities on hydrological studies, Eco-based adaptation and Nature Based Solutions (NbS). He/She will be responsible to direct the teams on day-day interaction with the communities, workplan and execution of project activities Job Summary a) Implementation of projects’ workplan at the sites and reporting to Director Freshwater b) Oversee technical Assessments and surveys of potential sites Preparation and evaluation of Sustainability plans Engagement with communities and organizing the training and capacity building sessions for the stakeholders on the importance of water conservation and pollution abatement practices c) Ensure that organization’s procurement guidelines are met within the timelines of required procurements to avoid delays in field interventions, d) Arranging consultative meeting(s) with relevant stakeholders for identification of relevant project sites and prepare activity related logistical arrangements Developing feasibility report and project progress report(s) e) Designing and evaluating new interventions in the water replenishment and stewardship domain and guiding teams for new innovative ideas f) Day to day interaction with the donor/s and stakeholders and present at different for a about the stewardship work g) Looking after the project activities of Restoration Projects in South Punjab h) Establish a Collective Action Platform in Multan and mature collective action using the platform and create linkages with other chapters of platform i) Overseeing the project activities of Water Sensitive cities project/s in South Punjab j) Develop new proposals and concept notes in close coordination with the Programme Development team for ensuring the financial sustainability of the Freshwater Programme. k) Oversee to develop and disseminate knowledge products, success stories, and visibility materials to communicate projects’ outcomes and enhance programme visibility at national and international levels in close coordination with the Communications Department. l) Coordinate with research institutions, academia, and policy think tanks to co-produce knowledge and promote collaborative research on freshwater and climate issues for a wider outreach. m) Organize policy dialogues, multi-stakeholder consultations, and city level workshops on water science, policy, and governance in collaboration with government departments and key stakeholders to strengthen linkages and bridge the gap between science and policy. n) Prepare donor progress reports, impact documentation showcasing measurable results and lessons learned from the Freshwater Programme’s projects. o) Contribute to internal learning, knowledge sharing, and cross-programme collaboration. Selection Criteria ✓ Engineering Graduate/Masters in relevant engineering or management discipline and or any other relevant degree. ✓ 9-10 years of experience in development-related work, particularly in the water sector and work with farmer communities with Engineering Graduation OR 7-9 years of experience with Master in the relevant field ✓ A qualification in project management or management will be considered a plus. Other Skills and Abilities ✓ Aptitude for teamwork and field work; Other Skills and Abilities: - Aptitude for teamwork and field work. - Excellent English and Urdu Language Skills (reading, writing and speaking skills). - Proficiency in ICT particularly MS Office and MS Team Suite - Be able to communicate ideas and thoughts in a clear manner and local language specific to communities - Sensitivity to gender and other current social issues in Pakistan. - Demonstrated advocacy skills. - Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Courage, Respect, Integrity and Collaborate.
