GIS Specialist/Research Associate

Job details

TORs • Conduct desk research, literature reviews, and background analysis on climate change, environmental sustainability, circular economy, resource management, and sustainable development themes. • Support preparation of research reports, working papers, policy briefs, technical reports, and project publications. • Collect, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data for research assignments. • Develop GIS-based datasets and spatial analysis outputs for environmental and climate-related projects as required by supervisor. • Prepare maps, spatial databases, and visualization products for reports, presentations, and policy documents. • Support integration of remote sensing data, satellite imagery, and geospatial information into research outputs. • Contribute to dissemination of research findings through presentations, publications and communication materials. • Assist in preparing project methodologies, work plans, logical frameworks, indicators, and technical narratives. • Conduct background research and provide technical inputs for new funding opportunities. Required Qualification • PhD degree in Environmental Sciences, GIS & Remote Sensing, Climate Change • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in research, GIS applications, environmental analysis • Strong understanding of climate change, environmental governance, sustainability, and development challenges. • Experience in GIS software including ArcGIS/QGIS and preferably remote sensing applications. • Demonstrated experience in research writing, technical reporting, and data analysis. Required Skills • Strong research and analytical skills. • Proficiency in GIS mapping, spatial analysis, and visualization. • Ability to analyze and interpret environmental datasets. • Strong technical writing and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments. • Good command of MS Office and research tools.
