Job Purpose To ensure the accurate dispensing of medicines and efficient management of the pharmacy store by maintaining adequate inventory, proper storage conditions and accurate stock records, while complying with hospital policies, regulatory requirements and patient safety standards. Key Responsibilities Medicine Dispensing • Dispense medicines accurately against authorized prescriptions. • Verify prescriptions for accuracy and ensure proper labelling before dispensing. • Provide basic medication instructions to patients under the Doctor direction. • Follow FIFO (First IN, First Out) principles while dispensing medicines. Store & Inventory Management • Receive, inspect, and store medicines and medical consumables. • Maintain accurate stock records and inventory documentation. • Monitor stock levels and prepare purchase requisitions for replenishment. • Conduct periodic stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies. • Segregate and report expired, damaged, or near-expiry medicines. Compliance & Quality • Ensure medicines are stored under appropriate conditions. • Maintain cleanliness, organization and safety within the pharmacy store. • Comply with hospital policies, pharmacy regulations and infection control standards. • Support internal audits and quality improvement initiatives. Coordination • Coordinate with the Administrator, Procurement Department and clinical staff to ensure uninterrupted medicine availability. • Prepare routine inventory and stock reports as required. • Perform any other duties assigned by the Hospital Management. Qualifications • Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or a related discipline. • Valid registration with the relevant Pharmacy Council (where applicable). • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy or medical store. Skills & Competencies • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and inventory management. • Familiarity with • FIFO inventory principles. • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office and inventory software). • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. • Attention to detail, integrity, teamwork, and effective communication. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Accurate and timely dispensing of medicines. • Inventory accuracy and stock availability. • Minimal expired or obsolete stock. • Timely inventory reporting. • Compliance with hospital policies and pharmacy standards. Working Conditions • Hospital-based role requiring interaction with patients and healthcare staff. • May require shift duties, prolonged standing, and routine inventory handling.
