Radiation Protection Officer (RPO)

Education: MS / M. Phil / Ph.D. in Medical Physics (preferably with specialization in Medical/Radiation Physics). Medical Physicist (Radiology) in accordance with PNRA. Hospital/institution-based training or internship in a Radiology Department, with practical exposure to radiology equipment and radiation protection, including X-Ray, CT, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Cath Lab, C-Arm, and Image Intensifier, will be preferred.. Experience: Fresh, preferably 01 year of experience. Develop, implement and monitor the Radiation Protection Program (RPP) and radiation-safety SOPs. Ensure compliance with PHC MSDS, PNRA requirements, applicable laws, local rules and approved radiation-safety procedures. Implement personal and workplace radiation monitoring, including staff dosimetry, review of dose reports and follow-up of abnormal readings. Ensure availability, proper use, periodic calibration and maintenance of radiation monitoring instruments and radiation-protection equipment. Monitor use and condition of lead aprons, thyroid shields, barriers and other applicable protective devices. Identify radiation hazards and deficiencies, report them to management and supervise corrective/preventive actions. Ensure radiation warning signs, controlled/supervised areas and access controls are maintained as required. Coordinate radiation-safety orientation, refresher training and competency awareness for radiation workers and maintain records. Ensure appropriate radiation-protection measures for pregnant radiation workers. Maintain the radiation emergency plan and participate in radiation-emergency drills/exercises. Maintain records of occupational doses, workplace monitoring, incidents, corrective actions and radiation-safety training. Coordinate with Imaging Services leadership, medical physics/authorized service providers and PNRA as required for radiation-safety matters. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating all PHC and PNRA visits/inspections, including preparation of required documents and records, coordination with relevant departments, ensuring compliance with observations/requirements, and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions until closure.
