Job Description: The City School in Karachi seeks a Senior Librarian to lead library services across the campus, strengthen learning resources, and support faculty and student research needs. Reporting to the Head of Academics, the Senior Librarian will oversee daily library operations, curate print and digital collections, implement literacy and information-literacy programs, and mentor junior staff. This role is ideal for an experienced librarian who combines strong organizational skills with a passion for student learning and modern library technologies. • Manage acquisition, cataloguing, classification, and circulation of print and electronic resources. • Develop and maintain an integrated library system, metadata standards, and a discoverability strategy for digital collections. • Design and deliver information-literacy workshops and reading programs for students and professional development sessions for teachers. • Supervise and coach library staff, assign duties, and evaluate performance to ensure excellent service delivery. • Partner with academic departments to align resources with curriculum goals and support research projects and extended learning activities. • Monitor budget, recommend resource procurement, and maintain relationships with publishers and vendors. • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and accessible learning environment; develop policies for resource use, copyright, and digital citizenship. • Prepare periodic usage reports and analytics to inform collection development and instructional support. The position is based in Karachi and contributes to The City School’s mission of delivering high-quality education across its network. The Senior Librarian will play a key role in elevating reading culture, supporting curriculum delivery, and integrating modern library services into classroom practice.Job Specification: • Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent with at least 5 years’ professional library experience, preferably in an educational setting. • Proven experience with library management systems (e.g., KOHA, Alma, or similar) and familiarity with MARC, Dewey Decimal, or equivalent classification schemes. • Strong collection development skills: resource selection, licensing of e-resources, periodical management, and vendor negotiation. • Ability to design and deliver information-literacy instruction and reading interventions for diverse student age groups. • Technical competence with digital resources, e-books, learning management system integration, and basic troubleshooting of AV equipment. • Staff management and supervision experience, including scheduling, mentoring, and performance assessment. • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills to work effectively with teachers, students, parents, and external partners. • Data-driven approach: comfortable using circulation statistics, usage analytics, and reporting tools to guide decisions. • Organizational skills for cataloguing workflows, preservation, and maintaining an accessible library environment.Job Rewards and Benefits: Health Insurance,Leaves,Provident Fund
