Postdoctoral fellowships are employment as much as they are awards: most pay a research salary, include social contributions, and run for two to three years. The competitive element is usually the research proposal and the fit with a host group, not your transcript.

Pay attention to mobility rules. A large share of these schemes require that you have not lived or worked in the host country for more than a stated period before the deadline, and that condition disqualifies more applicants than any academic criterion.
