Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent Gynecologist (BEmONC Fellow) based at Project Office in Baltistan. Key Responsibilities: 1. Technical Support and Training Development • Support development, review, and contextualization of SRH and BEmONC training materials, guidelines, and SOPs. • Ensure alignment of training content with national protocols and WHO standards. • Contribute to development of competency-based training packages for health care providers. 2. Training Facilitation and Capacity Building • Facilitate cascade trainings on BEmONC and related SRH competencies across target districts and facilities. • Ensure standardization and quality of training delivery in line with approved training packages. • Support pre-training planning, coordination, and post-training evaluation processes. • Strengthen skills of health care providers including doctors, midwives, and nursing staff. 3. Supportive Supervision and Clinical Mentorship • Conduct regular supportive supervision visits to health facilities to assess clinical practices. • Provide hands-on mentoring and on-site coaching to improve emergency obstetric and newborn care. • Identify gaps in service delivery and provide structured corrective guidance. • Strengthen adherence to BEmONC protocols and clinical standards at facility level. 4. Quality Assurance and Clinical Standards • Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to monitor compliance with clinical standards. • Support development and use of supervision checklists, scorecards, and quality tools. • Identify performance gaps and recommend actionable improvement measures. • Contribute to continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives in health facilities. 5. Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting • Prepare field visit reports, supervision summaries, and training documentation. • Contribute to program reporting and evidence generation for maternal and newborn health. • Document best practices, lessons learned, and implementation challenges. • Support data collection for monitoring clinical quality indicators. 6. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement • Collaborate with district health authorities and facility in-charges for implementation support. • Coordinate with program teams to ensure effective follow-up of training outcomes. • Facilitate communication between technical teams and field-level health staff. Expected Deliverables • Training reports and post-training evaluation summaries. • Monthly supportive supervision reports and facility visit documentation. • Clinical mentorship logs and competency improvement tracking. • Quality assurance assessment reports and action plans. • Contributions to quarterly progress reports and learning briefs. Qualifications & Experience: • MBBS, FCPS II Training in Gynae and Obs or equivalent qualifications such as MCPS or DGO Additional training or certification in SRH, MNCH, or BEmONC will be an advantage. • Minimum 4 - 6 years of experience in maternal and newborn health, SRH, or clinical service delivery. • Experience in conducting trainings, clinical mentoring, or supportive supervision preferred. • Prior experience in BEmONC trainings or obstetric emergency care programs preferred • Exposure to health programs in rural or resource-constrained settings is an advantage. • Understanding of WHO SRH/BEmONC guidelines will be preferred. • Strong clinical knowledge in maternal and newborn health. • Ability to facilitate trainings and provide on-site clinical mentorship. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Good documentation, reporting, and analytical skills. • Experience working in Gilgit-Baltistan or similar hard-to-reach contexts. • Knowledge of local languages will be an advantage. • Ability to work in geographically challenging and resource-limited environments. • Team-oriented mindset with ability to work under supervision and independently. • Results-driven, ethical and adaptable professional with a strong service and stakeholder focus. • Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information. • Demonstrates superior organizational skills and the agility to multitask and assume changing strategic responsibilities in a dynamic environment. • Possesses strong integrity, intellectual humility and demonstrable expertise in navigating ambiguity and constant change. • It shows resilience, flexibility and perseverance, especially during challenging periods. • Culturally sensitive, inclusive and respectful of diverse populations, reflecting the global values of AKDN. • A deep passion and commitment to AKDN’s purpose, values and ethical framework.
